The Heat of Desire
"Although I took to New York straight away I was really lonely. I would take whatever I could in a taxi-cab to wher- ever I was going to next. I'd take a big breath, grit my teeth, blink back my tears and say, 'I'm gonna do it- I have to do it because ...

Take The First Step--Action Is The Cure

For example, when we bought the hull of a sailboat with the dream of sailing around the world, I clearly remember sitting in the hull with nothing in it. I had no money, no experience with building sailboats and few tools to even work with. I remember thinking to myself, “What in the world was I doing here?” The dream almost ended right there.
Instead, I picked up a wire brush and started cleaning. Since the boat was aluminum, wire brushing made it shiny clean. I cleaned that boat for a long time. While I was cleaning, I had time to think about what I should do next and I did it. Then I thought about the next thing and the next. 18 months later, we had a finished sailboat to put in the water.
Action is the cure. There are times in everyone life when things seem impossible; times when we really just do not see the point in doing anything else. It might be that there is too far to go, or that the future is in such doubt that we wonder why we should even bother. I tell you again that action is the cure.
As I’ve mentioned in previous articles, my family and I have a dream of owning a horse ranch on the western slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We visualize the ranch in a beautiful valley with a clear cold river flowing through the middle, surrounded by high snow-covered mountains and a clear blue

sky. There are guest cabins where people come and stay with us to enjoy time on the ranch with the horses and the valley and to share the life we lead for a while.
As far away as that dream seemed to us, we have taken another step closer to it by purchasing 10 acres of land, with a house, and an acre of cleared fenced pasture right here in Georgia. Two horses arrive on Saturday! We are very excited, however there is so much to do. We needed to design, finance and build a barn. We took action and now it is beginning to happen!
With help I have designed a barn and have laid it out in the field. We have cut down the trees we need to saw into the lumber.
You too can create whatever you want. It may seem impossible at the moment. You might think it could never be true for you. This I can promise you. If you will simply make up your mind that a things will be so, and take action to make them so, you will be utterly amazed at the forces of the Universe that will come to your aid.
I can promise you this as well. If you allow your negative thoughts to have convince you that such a thing is not possible and, if you believe that life is not meant for you, then that is exactly what will happen to you.
All you have to do is have an intention, a goal, then passionately believe in it, no matter what they all say, and take action - any action!
I am not the first to tell you this. How many more times must you hear it before you believe?
